Starting in 2020, we witnessed stupidity and outright lies from a team of maniacs with signs of mental retardation. But that wasn’t what surprised us the most. We were surprised by the leaders of some world draughts federations, draughts players from individual territories, and officials at various levels who saw the future of draughts in this team of maniacs and tried to prove to us that it was they and their team who were developing draughts. We talked about the facts at length, but were met with vague mumbling and listless glances. Life and time have shown that we were right. Our team is rarely wrong about people. Very rarely.

A necessary and reasonable decision

Although there was a slight delay, the first step toward cleaning up the Augean stables of the former FMJD leadership has been taken. The name of this holiday probably comes from the expression chanukat ha-mizbeach (“consecration [renewal] of the altar”), which occurred immediately after the liberation of the Temple by the Maccabees and its purification from idols. Another explanation interprets the name of the holiday differently: חנוכה חנו כ“ה‎, meaning ”rested [from enemies] on the 25th [day of the month of Kislev]”.

Another name for the holiday, Hag Urim (“festival of lights”), was first mentioned by Josephus. In Russian-speaking circles, it has also become commonly known as the “festival of light”.
