We have received some sad news. Yesterday, at the age of 77, the legendary Latvian grandmaster Laimonis Zālītis passed away. In recent years, Laimonis had been seriously ill and had not been participating in tournaments. We extend our deepest condolences to Laimonis’s family and loved ones. On July 24, 2025, we received the sad news of the death of the legendary coach Peteris Freidenfelds (20.03.1935 – 24.07.2025). We express our deep condolences to his family. Peteris’s funeral will take place on July 26 at 14:30 at the funeral home located at Velis-A, Adama street 2, Dobele.
