The year 2025 has come to an end. It was a challenging year for many, but it also brought many exciting events to the world of draughts. The World and European Championships in Turkey, the stunning competitions in Yakutia and China, the brilliant young draughts players from Mongolia and Hungary, and many more memorable moments from the friendly draughts community. There are only a few countries in the world that have a well-developed and modern draughts structure: the Netherlands, Russia, China, Mongolia, and Belarus. Watching the national championships in these countries is always interesting, informative, and unpredictable. It is the draughts players from these countries who set the trends on the global stage. We always keep a close eye on the events in these countries. Currently, China is hosting the national championships for two types of draughts.
It is very difficult in our time to withstand the pressure of narrow-minded fans of the Austrian artist, and sometimes just clinical idiots. And not only to withstand the pressure, but also not to lose the desire to continue doing his job. Leszek Petlitsky manages to do this. He manages to do it while maintaining dignity and respect for the beautiful game.
We congratulate the coaches, teachers, and students on the beginning of the academic year. We wish them patience, diligence, new knowledge, and a deeper understanding of the world. And of course, new achievements in draughts!

The determination of the Dutch Draughts Federation is nothing short of amazing. It was only recently that the decision was made to start a professional approach to draughts among women and now we are seeing the results! Two fundamental decisions were made: 1) to refuse to travel to the dubious and foul-smelling “World Championship” (it’s already ridiculous) in Trinidad and Tobago 2) to hold their own “World Championship” in Hoogevens.
At the end of the school year the proud Federation will host tournaments among children in Russian draughts in the Rapid and Blitz programs. As you may remember, children play just for fun. They’re not going anywhere afterwards..
Last year, our team went on another trip. And of course, even in the most unexplored places, we do not forget about our favorite sport. Checkers have become a magic thread for our team to explore the world and an opportunity to meet amazing people.We looked into Karelia, in the beautiful city of Petrozavodsk. We met Ivan Lopukhin and for a moment stealthily visited the Gambit draughts club. We give the floor to Ivan and will dedicate several materials to Karelia and the history of draughts in the region.

All draughts players know about the legendary draughts tournament in Bender and everyone has heard about the legendary draughts school of Nikolai Leontievich Gringruz. More recently, the electronic version of the legendary school’s website has also begun to develop.
