To see three yards into the ground (Mongolian Youth and Girls Championship)
To see three yards into the ground is to be astute, far-sighted, and prudent.
The distance of three yards is 2.13 meters (two meters and thirteen centimeters). I wish I could look for a treasure with such a unique one!
The expression is colloquial and is used, of course, in a figurative sense. It should be understood that a person, as they say, sees “several moves ahead.” Arshin is a Russian measure of length equal to 0.71 meters, which was used before the introduction of the metric system of measures in 1918. To see underground (which is impossible in itself) and even to a depth of three yards is a playful exaggeration.
This is not the first time that the Mongolian Draughts Federation has attracted our attention. The Federation maintains an active page on Telegram and always highlights its tournaments brightly and tastefully. It seems to us that the Mongolian Federation is one of those that could organize major international tournaments.
The national championships of the country among boys and girls in groups of different ages have recently ended. The number of participants is amazing. How much it takes to organize such a large-scale judges, facilities and simple work to optimize tournament results is anyone’s guess. But looking at the professional photos and the happy faces of the children, we can conclude that the national championships were a success.
When we see the results of Mongolian draughts players at international forums among boys and girls, we are not surprised. And we suggest looking at the results of the national championships. Just look at how many small children they have gathered in a group of 5-6 years old.
