The Hoogeveen Open 2025 has officially started
The Hoogeveen Open 2025 officially kicked off in the middle of a busy summer with numerous tournaments, and it was immediately clear: this will be another week where every move counts. The field of participants is diverse, with 120 players from various countries and a large number of challengers vying for the title in the coming days.
Before the start of the Hoogeveen Open 2025, there was time for a warm-up session, where players greeted each other, shared stories about their holidays, reminisced about previous tournaments, and occasionally decided to practice. As they enjoyed a cup of coffee, they engaged in conversations, jokes, and reflections on what lay ahead. Then, the leader of Hoogeveen, Zainal Palmans, officially opened the tournament, paying special attention to the Dutch youth team due to their outstanding performance at the European Championship in Italy. Six of them were already standing in Hogaven less than a day after their return. Special mention should be made of 18-year-old Sytze Spijker, who returned from Italy with gold, silver and bronze medals and received well-deserved applause as a gift. Therefore, it was logical that the first move was made in his place and carried out by sports coordinator Linda Santing.
