On the shores of Lake Geneva
It’s not often that we pay attention to the development of draughts in France and the local draughts players. Sometimes we felt that there were very few competitions in France and that draughts were not very popular. However, after looking at the table of the new tournament we realized that we had been a bit too harsh.
An OPEN tournament is taking place on the shores of Lake Geneva in a beautiful and UNESCO-protected place.
Anthy-sur-Léman is a village in Châble, Haute-Savoie, with a population of 2,260. Located between the shores of Lake Geneva and the forests at the foot of the hills, Allenz commune boasts an exceptional natural environment and is part of the Châble Geopark. A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2012, it confirms the exceptional geological and cultural heritage of the area. It is a rural village with ancient origins, where agriculture and fishing have long been the two main activities. Today, this mainly residential area retains its authentic rural spirit and traditional fishing activities, with economic activity concentrated mainly in the south, in the ‘Espace Léman’ commercial zone.
