No one returns from a journey the same as they were before (10th “Xingqiu Cup”)
Good traditions remain in our memory for a long time. Competitions in China, as in the Netherlands, are always held at a high level. And the high level of tournament organization is matched by the high level of players. True, with some reservations. For several years now, many of the strongest athletes from different countries, who have been subjected to idiotic sanctions, have not been coming. However, there are still a few more buts….
These “buts” are a legacy of the previous regime. Someone made the “smart” decision to hold FMJD world championships in Rapid and Blitz separately from the real situation, and even in some mysteriously distant places. This was a way of laundering money and devaluing the title of world champion in these programs.
Without detracting from the merits of the world-class players participating in these programs, it is worth noting that holding Rapid and Blitz programs separately will soon not only reduce the significance of these tournaments, but also make them unprofitable from a commercial point of view, as they will lose their appeal.
