And the sun rose in the East…(Updated)

The international draughts tournaments of the new organization (IDA) have started in Tashkent. For the first time, draughts players from Iran came to the competition. Draughts players from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan also take part in the tournaments. The strongest Russian draughts players, missing their favorite game, came to sunny Tashkent.

Among the Russian draughts players, if not a name, then a “star” player. Let’s list some names: Alexander Georgiev and Alexander Getmansky, Elena Milshina and Aigiza Mukhametyanova, Margarita Fedorova and Tunaara Fedorova, Nona Savina and Agata Parakhina, Tamerlan Akhmerov and many other talented draughts players.

In the face of division and lack of constructive solutions on the part of many sports officials in Europe, the alternative was not long in coming. Remembering how Russian checkers developed in the IDF when they separated from the “half-dead” FMJD, in this case, the new organization has a broad perspective. But with the right management, IDA can occupy its niche in the global checkers.

After all, it is “absolute savagery” for the world champions and recognized geniuses of this game to be suspended, and fans of the draughts game to be deprived of the pleasure of watching the beauty and learning from the strongest.
