Miami Beach is a resort city in the state of Florida (USA). It is located on an island between Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Biscayne Bay separates Miami Beach from the city of Miami. The city is often mentioned together with the city of Miami under the general term “Miami,” despite being a separate municipality. According to the 2000 census, the city had a population of 87,933. 55.5% of them were immigrants from other countries. In 2005, the number of residents decreased to 87,925. In 1982, the majority of the population (60,000) or 62% were Jews, while in 2004, only 19% or 16,500 were Jews.
