A Dutch pin in the wooden Mackintosh of international “officials” from draughts
The determination of the Dutch Draughts Federation is nothing short of amazing. It was only recently that the decision was made to start a professional approach to draughts among women and now we are seeing the results! Two fundamental decisions were made: 1) to refuse to travel to the dubious and foul-smelling “World Championship” (it’s already ridiculous) in Trinidad and Tobago 2) to hold their own “World Championship” in Hoogevens.
So, the fact is:
“The World Draughts Championship” is taking place at the Aktivum (Sportveldenweg 2, Hoogeveld). Everyone is welcome, and admission is free. Draughts enthusiasts around the world can follow all the games live on wkvblitz.kndb.nl, including analysis and results. The live stream will be accompanied by expert commentary from FMJD master Nick Waterink, who knows how to captivate both seasoned players and new viewers with his insight and enthusiasm.
The World Cup was made possible by: Basalt Bouwadvies BV, the municipality of Hoogeveen, the province of Drenthe, MMC, M3 Groep, the Martensplek Hotel, Drentse Dambond, De Ontwerpster, J. E. de Vries Advies, the administration of CBA concept Bedrijf, Damclub HDC Hoogeveen, KNDB, FMJD and 20 friends of the World Cup.
What we get in the “dry” residue:
18 beautiful girls selected by criteria incomprehensible to anyone of thinking from 5 (five!!!, Karl!) countries will play for the title of World Champion in the programs Blitz and SUPERBLITZ. Amazing are Your deeds, Lord!
We are completely fascinated by the beauty of young and talented checkers from the Netherlands. Our eye is pleased. But sincere questions arise.
A precedent has been created in world checkers and now the following will happen:
- Any organization or federation can hold any tournaments and call them World Championships!
- You no longer need to focus on the number of countries, the number of participants, or the selection rules.
- Any international organization or federation can hold draughts competitions at their discretion and decide which version of the World Championship they would like to participate in!
A logical question arising from the above:
Why do we need a “gang” of the International Federation of supposedly world checkers? They have long turned into a big brown stain, both in form and in its content. A big brown stain. And communication with this “gang” of “officials” of supposedly world checkers becomes toxic. Since after the last decision on the disqualification of 65 players, including underage children (!!!) they should be dealt with by qualified psychiatrists! But…
Let’s repeat the question: Who needs this international organization, and most importantly, why?
