Taking a change of shoes out of habit and enjoying the gym for the 50th time a year, the Latvian draughts players went to the village. After all, according to the management replacement shoes are much more important than the world and European championships.
As we predicted, the U-16 group barely gathered at the semifinal Latvian Russian Draughts Championship. They recruited 14 people from girls and boys. An announcement will be made soon about the recruitment of students to this group in order to show the development of draughts in Latvia again.
Competitions in Liepupe sometimes amaze with their vitality. Also, of course, they are striking in their uselessness and isolation from the real world. But what we talked about a few years ago is already happening – draughts began to die in the U-16 group.
Elections of the new composition of the Draughts Federation of Latvia will be held soon. We have been thinking for a long time that we need to choose a worthy and strong one. But now we realized how much we were wrong. After all, at such a speed, a new person would not be able to destroy the entire sports facility and justify our hopes. Therefore, we are completely for… the old line-up! After all, these are truly unique mentors and intellectuals in the world of draughts.
The Latvian championships among boys and girls in different age groups began on the ancient island of Kipengolm (or modern Kipsala).
Nowhere are veterans more welcome than in the Pension Fund and in the Latvian Veterans Championship. Girls after 50 are especially expected, although those who have turned 60 may also be suitable.
