Hopes on the periphery and faith in Brazilian draughts
Young draughts players from Latvia are looking to the future with hope. They get together and play in the Young Hope Cup. The same cannot be said for fans of the traditional game of draughts on a small board, especially in tournaments based on the Brazilian version.
Unfortunately, we have to admit that there is a lack of interest in small board competitions and a decline in the playing potential of Russian draughts among Latvian clubs. Only 14 men (including boys under 16) and only 6 women (two of whom are pensioners) gathered for the Brazilian draughts championship.
With such potential, we would recommend simply closing this branch of draughts in Latvia. Or simply transferring the organisation of competitions to another organisation. For example, ours. We would at least get the competition off the ground. Otherwise, public money is being wasted. They are imitating something that does not exist. Activity. And draughts players play on a small board for cookies. This is a lesson in behavioural psychology. Teaching them to live a poor life, but with enormous self-importance about their own usefulness.
