Only the brave can conquer the seas! We invite draughts players from Latvia and Lithuania…

In light of the decision made at the local federation level to virtually eliminate Russian draughts and to reform the competition calendar in such a way that this variant of draughts has practically disappeared from it, we invite fans of the classic game to join us. It has been exactly five years since draughts players from Latvia and Lithuania have refused to participate in IDF international competitions, citing all sorts of flimsy excuses. Let’s work to rectify this situation.

Therefore: The International Draughts Federation (IDF), in accordance with the 2026 IDF Competition Calendar, is hosting the World 64-Square Draughts Championship for boys and girls in the age groups up to 9, 11, 14, 17, 20, and 27 years old in Turkey. The age groups up to 20 and 27 years old will also count toward the World Student Draughts Championship. The World Youth Championship will feature blitz, rapid, and classic draughts.
A referees’ seminar will be held during the World Championship.

We invite Russian draughts enthusiasts from Latvia and Lithuania to participate. For our part, we guarantee assistance with paying tournament fees and transportation costs to the competition venue. We guarantee excellent conditions at the venue.

We are accepting applications for participation until October 7, 2026, via email: diagonale@albatross.land.
