The oldest participant—Dmitry Yevgenyevich Lond—is already 89 years old! He’s a veteran of the Leningrad checkers school. But it’s also worth noting the other veterans: Vilimir Viktorovich Deryabin, who turned 86, and Viktor Ivanovich Makarov, who turned 81. They’re young at heart and give the young grandmasters a run for their money.
