Book Presentation for Vladimir Langin’s «Начинаю и выигрываю» in Sochi
On May 30, 2026, a presentation of Vladimir Langin’s book «Начинаю и выигрываю» will take place at the library located at 4 Tchaikovsky Street in Sochi. A “simultaneous draughts exhibition” will also be held during the event. Admission is free.
Vladimir Olegovich Langin (born December 17, 1960, Leningrad, RSFSR, USSR) is the president of the International Draughts Federation (IDF), president of the St. Petersburg Draughts Federation, and chairman of the board of the “Russian Draughts” Foundation for the Promotion of Draughts
Vladimir Langin has achieved great success both as a draughts player and in his coaching and organizational work. For his achievements, he has been awarded the Medal of the Order “For Merit to the Fatherland,” 1st Class; the Medal of the Order “For Merit to the Fatherland,” 2nd Class; the honorary titles “Honored Master of Sports,” “Honored Coach of Russia,” the honorary title “Honored Worker of Physical Culture of the Russian Federation,” the “In Commemoration of the 300th Anniversary of St. Petersburg” medal, and the “80 Years of the State Committee for Physical Culture” medal.
Russian Grandmaster, International Grandmaster, three-time MARSH World Champion in Russian draughts (1993, 1994, 1995), two-time bronze medalist (1997, 1998), and multiple Russian champion in both individual and team competitions. Five-time men’s champion of Leningrad–St. Petersburg (1981, 1984, 1990, 1993, 2003), multiple city champion in team competitions and rapid play. Winner of various major all-Union tournaments—twice won the “For the Friendship of Peoples” festival in Tiraspol, three times in the tournament in memory of Hero of the Soviet Union Y. Chapichev in Dzhankoy, in the tournament for the prizes of Hero of the Soviet Union A. Puzikov in Orsk, and others. He has won the October Railway Championships more than 10 times. Winner of the “Locomotive” Central Sports Club men’s championship (1985), and a two-time winner of the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions (VTsSPS) championships as part of the Leningrad-Finlyandsky Branch of the October Railway team (1989, 1990). Winner of the 1989 USSR Cup on his own board.
