A Russian draughts tournament dedicated to Master of Sports Igor Shukshin was held in the village of Ustyany!

“He absorbed everything like a sponge, the best that was in checkers creativity” – so said Vladimir Olegovich Langin, Igor Shukshin’s coach. At the age of 20, Igor entered the top ten of the strongest in the USSR Championship in Russian checkers! However, at the age of 20, Igor Shukshin died tragically.

Vladimir Olegovich Langin, President of the International Draughts Federation, international grandmaster, three-time world champion, delivered a parting speech at the opening ceremony! He was accompanied by his wife, Antonina Leonidovna Langina, an international grandmaster and two-time world champion in Russian
draughts.
And at the award ceremony, Vladimir Olegovich presented memorable prizes, books and textbooks on checkers!
Athletes from Oktyabrsky, Velsk, Rovdino, Dolmatovo took part in the tournament.
The winners in their age groups were Mansuralieva Milana, Zadorin Yaroslav, Popova Alina, Sobolev Anton, and Ryukacheva Olga. Among the men, the strongest was Popov Yuri!

After the tournament, Anton Sobolev played a game with Vladimir Langin. The game ended in a draw.
