“Treading water” or “Sisyphean task”?
Out of old habit, today we took note of a championship held by a proud federation for boys and girls on the big board. Our editors lost interest in the events of proud federations long ago, as everything they do is doomed to failure and resembles the labor of Sisyphus.
A little historical background:
Sisyphean labor is when the effort becomes more important than the result. – Jean-Paul Sartre.
Humanity too often finds itself faced with Sisyphean labor, forgetting to ask itself: what is the point of all this? – Albert Camus.
When our jokes come true, we even get a little upset. After all, when we joked that some draughts clubs would soon be recruiting members through advertisements, we hoped that at least this joke would not come true. But no — it did! They recruited through advertisements, and now it’s unclear who is playing and why…
Draughts in proud federations is doomed. The more sensible ones understand that with the return of Russian and Belarusian athletes, the proud federations simply have no chance of winning medals at world and European championships. The level of play is falling rapidly and irrevocably. Therefore, gradually, everyone in the proud federations is turning into rhinoceroses, as in the famous work by Eugene Ionesco. But more on that in the next article.
Out of old habit, we are publishing the results.
