During two major tournaments with the participation of the strongest international draughts grandmasters of the world (international tournament in China and the Russian championship), the European continent championship for boys and girls is held. At the balneological resort.
From the positive: Finally, high-quality video broadcasts of the games have been made. The boards and the movements of the draughts are visible.
From the negative:
1. We still don’t understand, and it doesn’t fit into any sports management textbook, how it’s possible to create different websites for each championship every year. Who benefits from this? We can’t imagine the KHL, NHL, or major tennis tournaments creating new websites for each season. It’s absurd! Who benefits from working in such an unprofessional manner? However, this idiocy has been ongoing for years!
2. If you look closely at the line-ups, it becomes clear that the sport is dying. Take a look at the representation of European countries. In some groups, as we wrote last year, the major European countries are represented by only one player! This is the death of the sport as such. If there is no development of the youth sector, the sport will die. (We are not considering the proud countries where draughts players play for ” похлебку “*, as the local leadership does not have money to encourage draughts players).
*Explanation of point 2:
2.1. In proud federations, draughts players can only come to the World or European Championships, as they do not want and cannot put themselves financially on their own. They do not set themselves any high goals. They are completely dependent. Therefore, we will never see them at international tournaments. Only if by chance, sporadically.
2.2. Even if someone manages to “break through” and win a significant tournament, they receive prizes not in cash (!!!) but in the form of a promise from the federation to “pay” for their trip to the next tournament next year. In short, it’s a sect.
And the current general secretary (from a very proud federation) worsened this component by several times last year, thanks to his idiotic decision. Because he simply doesn’t have any money. He’s a poor soul in this regard. (He was supported by two clown brothers from the local federation).
Therefore, the overall impression is average. As is the level of play. But still…. As the classics have said, “All children’s problems stem from the idiocy and stupidity of adults.”
