Children – victims of adult vices

The monument consists of 15 sculptures. Two blindfolded children are depicted in the center of the composition. At their feet there are books: ‘Russian Folk Tales’ and ‘Fairy Tales’ by Alexander Pushkin. Figures of children are surrounded by sculptures in the form of anthropomorphic monsters, personifying ‘adult’ vices.

Drug addiction is an image of a bald man with a syringe and broken wings
Prostitution is a figure of a woman with a frog’s head
Theft is a figure of a man with a boar’s head carrying away a bag of money
Alcoholism is a caricature of Bacchus with a cup
Ignorance is a figure of a donkey with a rattle in his hands
Pseudoscience is a caricature of Themis with a helmet over her eyes, a scroll with an alchemical tree and a two-headed puppet
Propaganda of violence — the figure of weapon dealer
Sadism — a figure in a cassock with a rhinoceros head
Pillory for those without memory
Exploitation of child labor — the figure of a manufacturer with a bird’s head
Poverty — the image of an old woman begging
War – the figure of a knight in armor, with wings and in a gas mask, holding a bomb with the head of Mickey Mouse. The wings are the same as those of the Drug Addiction figure, which forms a symmetrical composition.
Indifference is a multiarmed figure, deaf and blind, with a body like a sarcophagus; it occupies a central place in the composition

We really hope that someday this ignorance and ambitions of fools will end and they will ‘self-destruct’. In the meantime one more country has not come to the World Youth Championship and perhaps will not come again – it is Hungary. And we hope that at some point two more countries will not come. And they will put the interests of sport and justice above their personal goals.
