Peteris Freidenfelds passed away

On July 24, 2025, we received the sad news of the death of the legendary coach Peteris Freidenfelds (20.03.1935 – 24.07.2025). We express our deep condolences to his family. Peteris’s funeral will take place on July 26 at 14:30 at the funeral home located at Velis-A, Adama street 2, Dobele.

Peteris was known all over the world. He was not only the coach of Andris Andreiko and Robert Misans, as well as many draughts players of different generations, but also one of the founders of the Latvian Draughts federation. He was one of the first to view draughts through the lens of science. He invited experts from various fields of science to understand the nature of logical games, and he was always on the lookout for effective methods of training and learning in draughts.
