Alexander passed away on August 30…

After a long and protracted illness, Alexander Ermakov passed away on August 30. Alexander had bravely battled his illness for the past year and a half. The funeral service for Alexander Ermakov will take place on September 4, 2026, in Riga at the Riga Meža Cemetery Chapel (Aizsaules iela 2, Riga) at 2:30 p.m.

Alexander was a vibrant, cheerful, and truly extraordinary person. He was always full of energy and new ideas, and it was always easy to talk to him. His love was contagious to those around him. His friends always supported him and stood by him during the difficult moments of his battle with illness.

Alexander earned a law degree from the University of Latvia and worked as an attorney. He participated in various sports and pursued creative projects. As a draughts player, he became the champion of the Latvian SSR three times in a row (1983, 1984, 1985). He won the Latvian team championships multiple times with the teams he played for. He attended our “Draughts League” tournament in 2022 in Šiauliai. We were very much looking forward to seeing him at the 2024 tournament in Budapest. Life had other plans.
